This is such a rubbish system, I really hate STEAM and all these clients that force you to register with them and have an unlimited fast broadband connection.I have searched online but can not find anything and did not find anything on steams site. If you aren't familiar with backing it up, steam just saves an offline installer on your hard drive making it very convenient in your case. This is strange because the actual update does not apply to the game until the whole patch is completely downloaded.Make sure you also back up your saves in your my documents folder just in case. So, while the downloading is still going on, it should not affect launching and playing a game.

I don't get too much spare time to play games these days, but when I do I actually want to be able to play my games.

I have occasionally been playing Skyrim in STEAM offline mode, I made the mistake of opening up STEAM whilst I was connected to the internet and it started to update Skyrim.

This I can not do as I have mobile broadband and it costs me an arm and a leg for bandwidth (£15 for 3GB).

I believe the update itself was around 2GB as I have not updated it since I bought it (December).

When I start the STEAM client in offline mode it now says I can not play my game until it is finished downloading the latest patch.

I can't download the patch, so is there any way I can play my game?
